1. You must believe The Word
The Word does not stick in a hard heart of doubt and unbelief. The Word only sticks in a soft tender heart of faith. It is like planting wheat on a concrete slab. It won't penetrate. If we believe we develop a heart that is like a freshly plowed field. Then the Word of the Lord can penetrate our heart and be planted and put down roots and spring up and bring forth fruit that remains.
When we really believe and receive Jesus Christ as our Lord, God gives us a Covenant Heart. People who say they are saved but have no change of lifestyle do not have a covenant heart. Here is what God does in a person's heart who is really saved.
Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them (Ezekiel 36:25-27).
This is how we discern a true believer from a phony. The true believer is very open and receptive to the Word of God. The True believer receives the Word of God with Joy and faith. A counterfeit believer is one who professes with his mouth but in works deny the Lord (Titus 1:16). Many of the Cretan's were counterfeit belivers. Read Titus 1:11-16.
Most of today's politicians say they're Christians to get votes. But what they stand for and what they do speaks much more loudly to the fact that most are imposters. They don't really believe Jesus Words or they would obey them. There is no way they could stand for "pro-choice", and question that life begins at conception, or sanction same sex marriage if they really believed the Word of God. Jesus gave us a key to letting the Word of Christ dwell in us richly.
"But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. 39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life." Jn. 5:38
Only those who truly receive Jesus as Lord with a willingness to do whatever He says, really believe Him.
There are many modern Pharisees and professors, but they don't really believe Jesus. Jesus Word on abortion is strong, and uncompromising. In fact he takes it one level higher, to include that of even entertaining murder in our hearts places us in danger of judgment.
"You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.' 22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment." Mt. 5:21.
Bible belief is more than mental assent. It is faith in action. Faith is an action word. Those who don't practice the Word don't believe the Word or the one who gave the Word.
Remember the parable of the sower in Matthew 13? The condition of the soil represents the condition of a person's heart. Those who don't believe are the hard hearted "wayside" ground. The word doesn't even begin to stick in their hearts. Believing Jesus means we believe He is God and are willing to do whatever He says.
When you really believe Jesus, you'll hang on every Word of His Word, and it will make a lasting impression on your thought life, and your behavior. To believe Jesus is to receive Jesus and all that He said. Nothing less is acceptable for a real Christian.
When you believe Jesus you'll pray for healing and see healing. When we believe Jesus we will see the greater works of God.
When we really believe Jesus we'll stop sinning. We'll start living holy lives. We'll obey the Word of God and pay a full tithe. When we believe Jesus we'll trust Him no matter what. There is no compromise with the Word of God. We either believe it all or we don't believe at all. Faith is not a compromise word. Faith is an action word. Faith means we believe with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength.
2. You must receive the Word deep within and keep it there.
When we receive a good meal we eat it. We savor it. We enjoy it. We say "mmmmm, That was so good." We let it go down into our stomach and it fulfills us. The same is true of the Word of God. It goes into our soft, open, receptive Covenant Heart. This is a heart that is soft and plyable and wants to conform to the Word of God. We hang on every Word of Jesus and we take it in so that it nourishes us. We receive it and we keep it and we practice it and it becomes a part of us. We let it "dwell in us richly"
Impostors and Professors of Christianity who really are not living it, and who do not really believe the Word of God is really the Word of God, are holding their opinions higher than the Holy Word of God. If you have any area of disagreement with the Bible or any opinion contrary to the Word of God, Guess who's wrong? You've got it. The big "I". It certainly isn't God. In order to be like Jesus we have to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. This means any opinion contrary to the Word must be thrown down and seen as wrong and repented of. II Cor. 10:305. This is where spiritual warfare begins. When we hear people say, "I think" and then proceed with a philosophy contrary to the Word, then immediately our discernment should kick in, and reject that Philoso-phoey. The Word is always right. Morality is not up for redefinition. Renewing our mind means casting down the ideas that are against the Word of God, as soon as we discover they contradict it.
Today, if you really have doubted one Word of Jesus or refused to receive Him as God and Lord of your life. Please pray right now and ask Him to forgive your sin and receive Him fresh and anew into your heart. He will save you. If you have not been obeying His Word and you know you should be, then repent and ask His forgiveness and put that sin away from you and He will renew His relationship with you.
3.Let the Word of God Dwell In You Richly
The Greek word for "richly" means abundantly. We need to be fat with the Word of God. We can never "overeat the Word of God" We can never get too much Word. So feast on it. Dwell on it. Memorize it. Meditate in it. Read it in the morning. Read at noon time. Read it when the sun goes down. Say it over and over. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you fresh revelation of it. Love it. Embrace it. Build your life on it. Teach it to your children. Speak it to your neighbor. If you're a preacher, preach it.
Be rich in the Word and you'll be rich in what counts.
Have a great week,
