Here are three secrets to abiding in the anointing:
I. Apply The Blood.
In order to abide in the anointing you must have all sin under the blood. In the Old Testament
The blood was applied before the oil. The blood made atonement for sin. The oil represented the anointing. It is a Biblical principle that the Lord doesn't fellowship with sin.
You shall also take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands on the head of the ram. Then you shall kill the ram, and take some of its blood and put it on the tip of the right ear of Aaron and on the tip of the right ear of his sons, on the thumb of their right hand and on the big toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood all around on the altar. And you shall take some of the blood that is on the altar, and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and on his garments, on his sons and on the garments of his sons with him; and he and his garments shall be hallowed, and his sons and his sons' garments with him (Ex. 29:20,21).
Having all of our sins under the blood of Jesus, gives us confidence to come boldly to the throne of Grace. Knowing His blood has cleansed us of our sin sets us free from condemnation and gives us confidence of His goodness toward us. There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Ro. 8:1. You're on God's good side. He's smiling at you. You're His favored child when you keep all sin repented of and rely totally on His blood.
His anointing floods your heart when you have faith in the Blood. The Spirit and the Word and the Blood are in agreement.
II. Wash Your Steps With Butter
When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil (Job 29:6).
The Word of God is often represented by milk. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby ( I Pet. 2:2). Cream being the richest part of the milk is what butter is made of. I was at a man's house who had an old butter churn. It was a porcelain crock, with a wooden lid. The lid had a hole in it. A wooden handle with a flat piece of wood in the shape of a cross was on the end of the handle and it was down in the crock with the handle sticking up through the hole in the lid.
Butter is made by churning whole milk or cream until the fat solidifies into butter. Washing your steps with butter means to churn the word over and over until you bring out the best of the Word. Washing your steps with butter means that you're meditating in the Rhema Word of God as it applies to every step the Lord is directing you to take. The Word of God always applies to every situation. When you live like this on the "Fat of God's Word," you abide in the anointing.
III. Spend Quality Time With Jesus.
Coming to the Cross and repenting and then to the throne of the Resurrected Lord brings increase of the Lord and decrease of us. When we spend quality time with Jesus we die to self and become empowered with the Lord's presence. The Apostle Paul Said, "I die daily"
This is an inner death to self, and a quickening of the Holy Spirit. This empowers me to live for Him throughout the day. Every day I need to "die" in this manner.
I encourage you to put these three secrets into practice and you'll abide in the anointing. When you do, you'll be ready to do whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to do. If the Spirit prompts you to pray for someone to be healed, they will be healed. If the Spirit moves you to intercede, your intercession will be powerful and on target. If the Anointing comes upon you to minister deliverance to someone they will be set free from whatever spirit is oppressing them.
May the Lord richly bless you as you abide in His anointing.
