I. It is a call to celebrate.
People celebrate their natural birthdays. Why not celebrate your spiritual birth? Why not celebrate the event that made your spiritual birth possible? In fact we were raised together with Him. If he wasn't raised from the dead we would still be dead too (I Cor. 15).
This resurrection holy day, let's celebrate the resurrection life that dwells in us. Resurrection Sunday is a celebration for every human, because we all have hope of the resurrection. The unsaved have hope in that they can be saved if they receive Christ. The saved have hope because they have the divine assurance that they will be with Christ forever.
II. It is a call to cooperate.
Every believer needs to understand the two resurrections and the vital importance of cooperating with the resurrection power resident within them.
Everyone will be resurrected although not all will attain to the good resurrection. There are only two resurrections. The resurrection of the just (Lk. 14:14) and the resurrection of the unjust (And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust Acts 24:15). The question is: Are you going to be a part of the resurrection of the just to spend eternity in the joyful bliss of heaven, or are you going to be part of the resurrection of the unjust and spend eternity in torment and darkness of hell?
If Christ dwells in you, you have a resurrected spirit. You are a new creation (II Cor. 5:17). "And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and si(Eph. 2:1)." You have experienced a spiritual resurrection. This spiritual resurrection makes you a powerful person. You have resurrection power in your spirit. You are a menace to hell's agenda. You are a threat to the devil. You are able and capable of greater things than you even realize. If the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you then "you can do all things
through Christ who strengthens you (Phil 4:13)."
I call this wonderful gift we have been given "Resurrection Grace" It is the power to transform hearts and lives. It is Christ in you the hope of glory (Col. 1:17). It is the greatest work of God on the earth.
Believers need to reflect on how they can cooperate with the Resurrection power of God today. They need to stop making excuses; stop whimpering and whining; stop flirting with the world and insulting the Spirit of grace and start cooperating with the Holy Spirit within. They need to start operating in the Holy Spirit. He is telling us to get up early and get to church early and pray. He is telling us to worship in the house of the Lord this Sunday. He is calling us to dig into the Word and study and meditate in it as often as we can. He is correcting us to stop making excuses for sin and start going along with His call to holiness. He is drawing us to get on our face and pray like saints. He is calling us to cooperate with his call to serve Him. He is calling us to live in the newness of His resurrection life.
We will stand before Him on the last day and give an account for our stewardship of His resurrection power. He has put His power in us so we won't have an excuse for being disobedient. He's not going to buy "It's hard" or "I can't" He has given us His POWER. We can. Yes we can.
III. It is a call to demonstrate
The Word of God says in Luke 14:14 "Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee , and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. Acts 10:38 says, " how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him." This is demonstration of the Resurrection Power.
Our Lord Jesus was "Mr. Resurrection" He always moved and flowed in the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit. We believers are called to fill up on the Power of the Spirit and then let Him flow through us. As we allow the reality of the resurrection power of God to dawn upon us and fill us, we should be demonstrating that power. Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Have a great resurrection Sunday. Have a great resurrection life.
God bless you all.
