People are running to and fro, and placing so many things ahead of their Biblical training, love for the truth, and their desire for the Word of God. When tests and trials come they will fall apart. The only way to face the temptations of this world, the persecutions and trials of the end times, is to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might (Eph 6:10). No believer can be as strong in the Lord as they need to be if they are not planted in the House of their Lord so they can flourish in the courts of their God. (Ps. 92:13)
Last week we looked at the first point in this very important topic. 1. What is a local church? It is the best place on earth for a believer to be every Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night. It is a place of encouragement, training and help for the believer. There is no substitute for it. It is vital to the spiritual life of every believer. Don't live life without the local church. We will look at why we need the Local Church .
2. Why we need the local church
Any believer who doesn't see their need for the local church doesn't really understand the plan of God for their lives. They lack revelation of the body of Christ.
A. The local church is a training center. (Eph 4:11-16)
We teach the full counsel of God's Word at Anointed Word. We don't leave anything out. We address the hard issues; the things that are not popular or ear tickling; the things most pastors won't touch upon, for fear of upsetting someone. For instance this past Wednesday I preached from I Tim. 2:9 about "modest dress and sexual purity". Many today would not stand for a message like that. We have women and men who want to show their bodies off. But the Lord says, cover it up.
B. The local Church is a healing center. ( James 5:14,15)
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
C. The local Church is a place of encouragement. ( Heb. 10:24,25).
When we get together the corporate anointing falls on the house of the Lord. People are worshipping and rejoicing. They are getting built up. They go away full of the Holy Spirit and blessed to be a part of a house that helps them be right with the Lord and each other. They are encourage that they are a part of a body that really does care. People who forsake the assembly of themselves together don't really care about and love other believers like they are commanded to by the Word of God. They profess to love the Lord, but if they forsake fellowship the Word of God says, they lack revelation of the body. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin (I Jn. 1:7).
D. The local church is a place of deliverance.
Every believer needs to be delivered from something. I have never seen a person who needed deliverance stay free from oppression, or strongholds of wrong thinking, or bad attitudes, if they did not stay in fellowship on a regular basis in a local church. It just doesn't happen. There is a corporate anointing In the local church that helps believers walk in victory. No one is an island. No one can stay free on a consistent basis without the local church. If they think they can they are deceived by a spirit of pride, and need deliverance from that. In the same context that the Apostle Paul talks about the importance of the local church he moves into the maintenance of deliverance from the world and the old ways of living:
This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness (Eph 4:17-24).
Don't let the devil trick you into staying out of church. There is a spiritual refreshment that must be had in order to be at peace, whole and healthy. Get into a full gospel, Bible Believing, Holy Spirit-filled church today and live totally for Jesus.
God Bless You,
